Cleared PMP On My First Attempt
I Finally Cleared PMP on 19th January, the day would remain memorable for Me for a long time for sure, undoubtedly one of the toughest exam that I have faced and cleared till date,so I guess I have all the rights to feel proud about it.
My Preparation was for about close to 2 Months.
I bought Andy Crowe on 12th November,Started going through the book,I found the book to be quiet interesting,20 questions at the end of each chapter are quiet good, but the final exam from Andy Crowe is a very easy one (Guess the best to take when you would want to boost your confidence).
I had completed reading Andy Crowe once by Second week of December,Started Solving Rita's questions on each Knowledge areas just to check My understanding,Was able to solve quiet a bit (Still Confidence low).Though did not go through Rita Mulcahy Book,I did make a notes on the areas where I was usually committing mistakes (Important tip for future PMP aspirants - Make your Own notes on all the Knowledge areas and Process groups,so that they might be a useful revision notes just before taking up the exam).
By the end of December started reading PMBOK 4th edition,Took about a Week to complete PMBOK once,Strange that I found the book quiet intresting rather Topics started to make sense and did enjoy for some time (Important tip for future PMP aspirants - Try to read PMBOK atleast once before the exam even though you have read it many times earlier).
I Started taking exams from First week of January,Started with Head Start,Oliver Lehmann (75 Questions & 175 Questions),Simplilearn,PM Zilla,PM Fast Track (PMP & Super PMP),1 Week trail version from Insite Velociteach,PM Study.
I had scored on an average of about 70 % from all the exams (Important tip for future PMP aspirants -You would feel lost while taking many exams after you see your results, but its quiet normal, review the questions where you have committed the mistakes with explanations,Most important aspect would be not to loose focus when you score low marks,it all about falling down and araising again,Trst Me every one goes through this cycle :).
The Last 2 days before the exam I went through the Notes (Combination of PMBOK,Andy and Rita's questions).
Reached 1 hour 10 minutes before the exam, was asked if I was ready to take up the exam, since I wanted to avoid the last minute revision(Since I dint exactly know which topic to focus on),hence decided to go with the exam well in advance before the actual schedule time.
Jotted down ITTO's diagram, important formulaes from Cost topics (EVM) within 15 Minutes.
Started answering exam questions without a stratergy,at the end of 1 Hour had completed just 45 questions with 4 Marked and 2 Unanswered, hence decided not to leave any question blank (Important tip to future PMP aspirants : You would easily spend 2-3 minutes in case the question is a tricky and wordy, hence try to answer the question that seem to be the most appropriate, mark it for future review, but please do not leave it blank, since 2-3 minutes precious time has already been spent on it,if its left blank you would need to again invest time from the scratch).
I had 30 questions to answer in the last 30 minutes, but fortunately the last 12 questions seemed to be easy and hence I was able to answer them in about 4 minutes.
I just had 14 minutes 30 seconds for my final review, hence first answered the questions which I had left blank (3 questions),and I ha marked about 25 questions totally,I was only able to review only 10 questions finally.
Time was up,the screen went blank (for close to 2 minutes with a Symbol,I almost wante to call the staff to check on it),after which I was offered to complete a Survey,Completed the Survey and Clicked Submit.
The result appreared in about 30 seconds,I was so much relieved to see the "Congragulations" Button.
I Thanked God immediately for the achievement.
Called up My Mom to inform about My Success.
Finaly Conclusion : PMP Journey is a life time experience and I am sure each one would have their own experience to share.
Hence please do share your experience on this Forum which would inturn act as a Motivating factor/Benchmark to compare for the other PMP aspitants.
