PMP experience requirements

I have overall 8 years of experience in IT industry. I have been doing project management for close to 5 years with the last 2.5 years in official Project Manager designation. Should i have the official "Project Manager" designation to account my project management experience?

Hi

 You are eligible by any standards to take PMP. You are not required to have PM designation, You should be doing PM tasks anything from Initiation to closure
