Cleared PMP on Aug 3rd
Hello All...
cleared PMP on 3rd Aug and want to thank the forum for all the useful info which everyone shares in here... I started my prep in April but started prepping seriously(daily 1-2hrs max) only from June end..it was about this time when i was 40% thru with my prep that I submitted my pmp application..
Books Referred :
1) PM Roadtrip ( 1 time)
2) Rita Mulcahy 6th edition ( thorough read the 1st time and a cursory read the 2nd time)
And I never bothered to refer PMBOK as it wasn't to my liking.
I used to read a chapter from PMRoad trip and answer the chapter-end quiz and then follow it up with reading the corresponding chapter in Rita and the chapter-end quiz. Also used to do the chapter-end quiz from HeadFirst. I also did the chapter quizzes from Rita's PM FastTrack which was very useful in covering all the aspects of each knowledge area and i strongly recommend this.
Used to score 70-80% in the chapter end quizzes in Rita while Headfirst quizzes were slightly easier...
Practise Tests:
1) HeadFirst test - in which I scored 82% about 10days before my PMP exam. I felt this test to be easier than the actual test
2) Rita's PM FastTrack PMP - scored 80% but this test was a disappointment as quite a few questions were repeats from the knowledge area quizzes....
Had planned for PMStudy tests but couldn't get time during the last week as I was very busy at work.
A day before the exam, I just studied for an hour going through my weak areas and just wound-up my prep
The Test Day: I had my test scheduled for 1.30 PM and started off at 1.15 pm... I never mugged any of the ITTOs nor the Pg-43 which ppl lay so much stress on..I purely relied on my understanding of the ITTOs and that really helped me in my prep..But on hindsight, mugging up ITTOs do help you a bit but for me it wasn't worth the effort. And i didn't have any knowledge dump of my own... So i read the tutorial for 2mins and immediately started off with the test...
Answered all the 200 questions in 2hrs10mins and took a break at 90mins... I marked almost 60odd questions for review, on which I spent some time again and changed my answers on 5 questions...at the end of 3hrs i was done with the review and didn't have the patience to read thru all the questions again and finished my exam...it was a painful wait for the result though i was sure i'd pass unless i get extremely unlucky...scored "proficient" in Planning and "moderately proficient" in all others but all I cared for was the "PMP" tag.
Cheers
S
