Passed the PMP Examination
Hello All,
I am very glad to share with you all that I passed the PMP examination last Saturday in my first attempt. My sincere thanks to everyone in this forum to share their experience with preparation to examination. It really helped me a lot and kept me motivated throughout last year.
Here is my timeline/observations:
Online Application Approved: July 2010
Examination: May 2011 - Passed
Background: BS, MBA, MS
Preparation Material: PMBOK Guide 4th Edition, Andy Crowe, Rita Mulcahy and multiple free online tests.
My Ranking on above books:
1. Andy Crowe (Read 4 to 5 times during the course of 1 year)
2. PMBOK Guide (Read once and then focused on page 42 and Glossary)
3. Rita Mulcahy (Only the practice questions on each chapter)
My Observation on Preparation for Examination:
1. Use your best judgement. Set your own pace.
2. There is no one "Good" strategy for the examination.
3. Core understanding of fundamentals will help you navigate through the questions.
4. Depend on your pace, your best bet to take examination is in first 3 to 4 months. I did a mistake of postponing the examination several time. Retention rate is higher when preparation material is read first time.
My Oberservation on Examination:
1. Examination is easy.
2. Follow test taking strategy as per Andy Crowe book. I was done with my first pass of the 200 question in 2 hours. Next 2 hours I just reviewed my answers.
3. Control your clock, take break and use the noise cancelling headphones provided in the testing center. They helped me stay focused.
3. Use the blank sheet
Good luck to everyone!!

Well said Ajay.
Well said Ajay. Congratulations on your PMP. I agree, the study plan and difficulty depends on individual and mostly experienced PM 4-5 years, find it much easier to clear the exam.
