So that while praparing for the exam,in-between if we get some interviews we can take advantage of atleast studing these concepts.

It depends upon you
It depends upon you. Its same as you have acquired knowledge and how much would you like to use it in real life. I have about 13 years of industry experience and I see we follow project management practices in day to day life. Many a times I see we do not know that we follow the same process that PMI tells.

Personally i was able to
Personally i was able to apply lot of PMP concepts to my work. I did not have management background and became manager by on-the job learning and promotions. PMP concepts helped me to know the correct workflow and what can go wrong if things are not done in proper sequence and if project management tasks are left out. Also i was able to appreciate how important is the job of PM in a company and project.
EVM is something not very much used in day to day work especially in IT industry. Other industries it may be possible.
