Passed with 4P and 1MP First attempt on 29/9/2014
i have always been reading all the post and now its time for me to write one. First of all i would like to thank PMZILLA, when ever i got stuck i came here and it helped me really alot. thanks to everyone for replying to my posts and questions.
I started my preparation in April 2014 with the target of 2.5 months of studies 2-3 hours everyday after work. i booked my exam for July 2014. i went on leave from work for 5 days for my final preparation. i was so much consumed in studies that i forgot almost everything around me. two days before my exam date my father passed away it was a sudden death. i left everything and flew back to my home country. every single moment i regret why i was so busy.i was completely out for almost 2 months. My memory was completely washed out. PMI was kind to reschedule my exam without any additional fee. i started preparing again by end of August. this time i went through PMBOK and Rita one time. i bought pmstudy 4 simulation test.
i found the real exam much easier then all mock exams. i found it much similar to pmstudy exam. few questions i found really easy. e.g there was a very complex diagram given and the question was calculate the float for critical path. few communication channel questions, tuckman ladder questions, best contract type selection questions. few earned value question but there you didnt have much confusion about which EAC formula to use (which was my weak area) you simply have to drive missing EV from CPI or SPI or from total percentage of work completion.there was one EAC question which confused me. lots of questions with choices like "project is under schedule and under budget"or vice versa. one straight forward TCPI question. one question for IRR calcualtion. many questions about change request and closing "what is the best thing to do next".
i was able to complete exam 17 mins earlier. i reviewed almost 15 marked questions. for 2 i changed my answers. i found real exam easy with not lengthy statement questions. i got 4P and 1MP in closing.
during my 1st round of preparation i attempted below mock tests.
pmp lite mock 14, 15, 17 and 18 and scored average 72% (infact failed in mock 18 score was 63%)
oliver: some where in 60z
simplilearn: 68%
exam central: 78%
izenbridge (100 question) 85%
i did some other mock tests as well from here and there. my average score was 74- 75%.
1-2 week before exam date i attempted PMStudy paid 4 tests. thats the only paid test i ever bought.
4 paid PMStudy exam: scored 72%, 78%, 74%, 76%
PMstudy tests helped me in time management. my suggestion for you is to try as much mock as you can. there are many free mock tests available.
Don't stressed out good luck to every one.

Congratulations and
Congratulations and appreciate your hardwork :)!
I have booked my PMP exam in the month of December. And right now, I should say I am at level zero, just started studying PMBOK with dedication. Could you please suggest me whether this period of time from now would be enough for me to clear PMP exam?
Also, I am planning to try the mock tests simultaneously while reading PMBOK. Is it a good idea ? Else please suggest how to manage ?
Also, Please post me few links where I can take free mock tests.
Many thanks in advance!
Regards,
Kandi.

Thank you.
Thank you.
you have enough time if you start preparation now. instead of reading PMBOK first i recommend read rita first and then read PMBOK. i started reading chapters 1,2,3,5...13 and at the end i read chapter 4. it helped in better understanding. read PMBOK as many time as you can from chapter 1-13 until you truly understand what the book is talking about (it will take 2-3 months).its also good to read rita and attempt the questions at the end of each chapter. at least give one round of book reading before trying to attempt the mocks. below are the links to free mocks:
