Exerience and contact hours question
Submitted by thedj on Tue, 02/25/2014 - 20:18
I am interested in doing the PMI-ACP exam and eventually CAPM and PMP, however, how do they check how much experience you have and how do they check that you have had 35 contact hours in training etc? How can they check and confirm this information?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

You can go for PMP first and
You can go for PMP first and I would also like to tell you that CAPM is an entry level Project Management certification while PMP can be taken by professionals who have minimum 3 years of work experience in assisting or managing projects. In addition to this, you'll also need 35 contact hours of formal PM education to take PMP examination. You need to submit a certificate of completion of these contact hours to PMI to take the examination and a documentation of your Project Management experience. You can read this article to know more about the PMP application format: http://www.simplilearn.com/pmp-exam-application-processIn my opinion, if you fulfil the eligibility criteria to take PMP, you can take PMP examination first and then you can go for PMI-ACP certification.Good Luck!

You need to provide all the
You need to provide all the details in the PMP application form which you can obtain from PMI's website. If in case your application is selected by PMI for the purpose of audit, you'll be asked to submit the documents for the exp shown as well as the 35 contact hours which will be then verified by PMI.

Thanks for the responses.
I have been a contractor for 2 years - so I currently have 2 years experience managing projects and my contract will be coming to an end this month, so after another years experience contracting, how would I prove that I have an additional 2 years experience from my previous contract?
