Result before the exam and serious LL
The night before the exam I saw 2P,2MP and 1BP. Definitely not happy about BP but after the white screen in the exam center, same thing appeared. Closing took the credit for BP and Initiating took the credit for MP. Planning and Controlling had Ps. Most of the questions came from planning and controlling. That made me happy. But working all day and taking 4 hrs exam after work (my exam was at 5 PM), really made me exhausted and I ended the exam while I had 5 more minutes to review. I did not even bother to go for survey. I had around 20 to 25 questions for review but I did not come back for review. So please don't plan your exam for the end part of the day after work. We have flood of LL since people are trying to get it done before new exam syllabus starts. So I will make my LL precise:
1) I started with Rita. Rita said read it 3 times, you are good to go. False!
2) Most part of the exam (90%) comes from every corner of PMBOK. Make sure you cover the entire book. Make your best effort to remember ITTO. Knowing ITTO make you feel smarter for PMP. If you take care of PMBOK contents, 5ps are guarantee. Since I started with Rita I did not have adequate time for PMBOK by July 31. Again my 20 months old daughter thinks her A for Apple, B for Ball book is more important than PMBOK and she always came to my room during my study time and put her book on the top of PMBOK instructed me to read for her. It was little tougher to cut time playing with your kids and concentrate to the book. My applause to PMP aspirant parents of young kids!
3)Once you master PMBOK, learn leadership style and HR need, communication approaches and numerical from any PMP book for extra 10%.
4) Try some practice question. From my experience and from this from, PMStudy is the best. Try some free version too, Exam Central and others. But PMStudy resembles the most.
5) Give touch-up in your preparation by Raga and Abhishek+Rajesh notes.
6) During the exam, manage your time. 50 question per hour. Don't rush and don't delay. Don't panic either. Once you are done with 100 question, you will have a kind of feeling whether you gonna pass or fail. After 150 questions, you gonna have pretty clear view of your result. That's why I did not bother to come back for review. However questions for review had already got my best answer.
Bottom Line: Learn PMBOK inside out. This is your lifeline and this is the Bible for PMP. Read supporting book e.g. Rita, Raga, Abishek+Rajesh and practice exam for the extra security. Don't forget to visit PMZilla, this is your dance floor for PMP preparation.
