PMP || more conceptual than theoretical.

 Hi friends,

First of all, thank you pmzilla for helping me crack this exam.

I just want to share my experiences for those who are planning to write their exam.

I just had 1.5 months for this exam. I wrote ITIL on 17th June and then thot of studying for PMP. I dint had mandatory coursework so I did it with proxalt. the cheapest one available. I filled the form in June end and got approved.

My actual study hours started from July.

I took my calendar and made a study plan (plan to study atleast 10-12 hours a day). Firstly I did Rita and then PMBok cover to cover and it took me two weeks.

Then I started Rita and PMBok again together chapter wise and started PMFasttrack knoweledge are questions after each topic. I was getting pretty nice score ranging from 75-80 in those knowledge areas. It took me complete 9 days to finish 9 knowlege areas.

Till then I was good in concepts but was getting confused by those specific questions which required mugging... like kind of management style, conflict resolution, contract type etc.

My next approch (as planned was to try all the practice questions/tests available) but coulnt do more than two and dint got time to review those (my mistake) but the best thing I did was reviewing rajesh nair/Abishek's notes in those last two days.

Guys these notes are really nice.

And finally today I wrote exam and at the end i got Congratulations...

Suggestions for all those who are planning to write the exam:

1. Please read PMBoK atleast thrice and any extra book you refer (in my case Rita) at least twice.

2. Plan accordingly for mock tests so that in case you find gap somewhere you should have enuf time to study that again.

3. Please read Rajesh Nair/ Raga355 or many such notes atleast once. these notes are going to make you confident even if you havent tried all the tests.

4. ITTOs are really important. Do not mug them but make sure you understand why each and every input is used for and there is no typo in PMBoK. If you feel some of the Inputs/outputs in any process is extraneous or useless, then think twice why it is needed for that process. It is not wrong if its there.

Last but not least feel free to post any question in pmzilla. Everyone here is really nice and would sometime give you explanations that are better than books itself.

All the best and Thanks to pmzilla

Congratulations on passing the PMP exam!

Regards.
