PMP certified !

Hi - I cleared the PMP exam on 26th July in my 1st attempt.

I am from blore but took up the exam in chennai - to be able to get a slot availability before 31st July (which wasnt available in Blore).

My approach included

1. Read up on PMBOK twice - once in detail to understand concepts and match it with real-world experiences in the enterprise projects I have worked upon - and the second time on my train journey to chennai the day before the exam - Really helped revise the topics and learning.

2. PMP book by Rita Mulcahy twice - again, once in detail and once more a day before the exam.

Hope this helps :)

 Congratulations on your PMP !

Thank you...For your and all forum members to update the knowledgebase and share your experiences. I joined Pmzilla a couple of days before the exam and found it to be a handy reference. thanks again for the selfless work from all of you.

Just a note on the exam.

1. Many questions (atleast 20 i could remember) on Earned value and Planned value etc - lots of them with irrelevant data added (watch out !).

2.  Spent the last hour revising the marked questions and going over them all over again - very useful (since I changed a few answers and believe got a fresh perspective to a question).

3. Is a long exam - and I took 4 breaks. Worth every one of them. Really is as much a stamina/patience & concentration exercise than perhaps just plain simple MCQ.

4. DONT overanalyse it (go for the answer that you think is best in the 1st try). Mark them if in doubt and You can always come back to have a double-check.

5. DONT over-prepare (if there is any such thing). I partied the night before and I believe it helped - enormously. Not thinking about a subject helps me focus on it when i need to (works for me ! :)

Last but not the least - you are unique, Pass/fail experiences I share or others have shouldnt affect you in any way - Is just an input, the tools and techniques have to be yours - and the output will be what you deserve :)

All the best !!
