PMP Exam Preparation Guidelines with PMBOK5

Hello Friends, I am new to this forum and glad to be a part of community with peers like CN Patil, Admin and SS Pawar.

I am planning to write PMP exam post 31st July and wondering if anyone could suggest/advise me the approach to pass PMP with PMBOK 5th Edition.

Any help would be much appreciated..

Thanks,

Mikagi

 Hi Mikagi,

I am appearing on 19th Aug, so I am too required to get pally with PMBOK 5th edition.

The problem is other than the PMI PMBOK 5th edition, I have absolutely no reference material. ALl the stuff I have is of the 4th ed.

I think for people like us who are appearing in the first month of the new exam pattern, getting our hands on updated notes (if there are any) is very important. In the absence of updated notes, PMBOK 5 is our only friend.

Anyway, all the best for the exam.. have you got the exam date already?

Best regards

Bhatta

I'm planning to take the PMP exam after 31JUL as well.

PLAN:

- Studying PMBOK 5th Edition and creating my own notes

- Read RITA's updated Exam Prep book v8 (don't want to buy another book but resources are limited)

- Planning to take a course online that incorporates the new material from PMBOK 5

- Updated Mock exams -- My plan is to use RITAs updated questions until other sources update their materials

To my knowledge the PM concepts will not change much whether you read books based on PMBOK 4 or 5. PMP questions are not that direct and keyword based questions and hence it should not matter for you.

Most of the good providers should upgrade their knowledge base with PMBOK 5 soon. Keep a watch on those providers and I am sure you will not have to worry much.

Regards,
Mohit

Hi Mikagi,

Unfortunately, there is a bit of a shortage on PMBOK 5th edition notes right now. My company (EdWel Programs) currently offers a free 4th edition textbook here (http://edwel.com/Book-Request.aspx). If you enter your email, we'll automatically put you on the list for a free 5th edition textbook, which should be available in the next few weeks.  Of course, if you are nearby one of our training locations, you are always welcome to join us for a PMP boot camp class.

Otherwise, best of luck on your exam!
