status of a project (PM Fasttrack)

PM Fasttrack #384

From the seller’s perspective, what is the status of a project when the project team has completed all the work specified in the contract statement of work and the final deliverable has been sent to the customer?

A - The project is completed.
B - The project is in the closing process group.
C - The project is at the end of the project executing process group.
D - The project is in scope verification.

 The correct answer is B.

Explanations : This question asks where you are in the project management process. Rita's Process Chart in the book PMP® Exam Prep will help you understand the project management process and where you are in that process. Many people believe the project is completed, but this in incorrect, because formal acceptance has not been achieved and other activities in the Close Project or Phase process have not been performed. Closure activities are so critical that a project cannot be finished without them. In our real world, many project managers are so busy that they forget the value of closing. This question tests that knowledge.

Hum... When are deliverables accepted by the customer?
In Verify Scope process (M&C) ?
In Close project/phase process (Closing) ?

For me the answer should be D. As the deliverable has just been sent to the customer, the customer is in the process of reviewing them for formal acceptance : Verify Scope Process.

How can we be in the Closing process group if we haven't had any feedback from the customer about the deliverables !?!

Thanks
