Need info. on types of ques frm PMP Exam + Input on improving my PMP test scores
Dear All,
Many Congrates to all who have recently passed this new PMP exam.
My exam is scheduled for Nov 8. Have gone through PMBOK & RITA 2 times till now.
In last 1 week have taken 2 full 200 ques test from Rita Fast track and scored 65% and 68.8% resp, which include Professional & Social chapter as well, as I have the old version of Rita.
Scored around 70% in ‘Initiating’ and ‘Closing’ processes.
but rest in rest processes, Planning, Execution and M & C score was only around 62% – 65%
I am quite nervous and confused that shall I reschedule my test ? as my score are quite low, as compare to other peoples who score generally around 80% in these tests.
Any tips on improving in particularly other process areas, where my scores are low ?
Also would request to please share your experience on following points from new exam :
- a.) Which practice test was more in-line with actual PMP exam ?
- b.) In total approx. how many ques were there on Math and difficulty level ?
- c.) Approx how many total ques were based on situations ?
- d.) Approx how many ques were straight forward ?
- e.) Any particular area like Risk, Procurement, from where more ques are coming ?
Please help.

Yes, you should reschedule for 2-4 weeks later.
You're not quite there yet.
Fastrack is a nice software, but try to get to 75%-80% before taking your test. Same with Headfirst.
In my experience, the 4 PMstudy tests were critical to my passing. I highly recommend doing the full tests and analizing both correct and incorrect answers in great detail. Have the PMBOK with you as you review the test results.
a) PMstudy (I was testing 65%-70% in these and passed)
b) Maybe 8 or so - brain dump the formulas during the tutorial and these are guaranteed correct answers
c) The majority of them - that's why the test is so hard.
d) Inderectly, a lot of the ITTO based questions could be called 'straight forward.' If by 'straight forward' you mean 'easy' then I would say 25 or so.
e) Know your Risk and Quality knowledge areas extremely well
