My PMP experience

Managed to pass the PMP exam yesterday 3/1/2013 in myfirst attempt! Never been so relieved.

About my preparation:

Read PMBOK 4 once and listened to theRMC (Rita) audio cd's twice in the car. I thought that the latter were very helpful.

Did every free trial exam that I could lay my hands on (most of them are mentioned here at PMZilla) and just kept on practicing. Found the Oliver Lehman and PM study very useful.

Attempted to explain some of the concepts like EV and network planning to my colleagues because if I can explain it to others I know I grasp the concept

Finally downloaded every free IPAD App that I could find and did more trial questions

About the exam:

Less difficult then I expected.

Started to do a braindump but decided against it so only wrote down some of the more complex EAC formulas and never used them.

Quite a few questions about SPI, EV etc.

Few PERT questions

Questions about procurement

Majority of questions were of medium length. Not many short or very long ones.

Took me about 2 hours to have a first go at all the 200 questions. Spent another 30 minutes to review the marked ones and pressed the End Exam button full of nervous anticipation. After the survey I got the verdict. 4 Ps and 1 MP (for /Closing)

Basically. If you prepare sufficiently and more importantly grasp the concepts then the exam is very doable!

Good luck to anyone scheduled to take the exam!

Congrats and thanks for your post.

Regards

Congrats Man!. But what was the duration of your preparation?.

Altogether around a month. Listened to the audia cds for about 2 weeks in the car. Spend the last 2 weeks appr 2 hours a day doing trial exams and questions

Thanks man!. This is really encouraging. Congrats.

Great to hear the proficiency :) Anyone know what's the process after you pass the exam? Is the certificate mailed out?

If you pass you will get a letter straight at the exam centre stating that you have passed and your level of proficiency.

A few days later you will get a message from PMI that you can download a copy of your cerificate (pdf format) from their site. The original will be sent to you by mail in a few weeks time
