Mission PMP Accomplished
Hello All
I would like to share with you the joy of having cleared the PMP Exam on 7th Nov.
I have been a member of this forum for some time and the LLs shared by the people in past have really helped me.
My Study plan
I started my preparation sometime in April 2013 with Rita and it almost took me 2 months to read the complete book.
Then in July I enrolled with Knowledge Woods for the PDUs and those training session really helped, I am extremely thankful to Praveen Sir for his guidance on the PMP content.
After that I started reading PMBOOK 5th Edition and solving random questions from various sites.
I would say PMBOOK is the bible and every word written in it is sacred from the exam point. You need to read the Glossary and even the Annexure in the PMBOOK. I skimmed through PMBOOK several times and each time I found something new which I had missed earlier. In fact I did revisit the PMBOOK the day before exam and that really helped me.
10 Days before the Exam you need to Eat, Sleep and Drink PMP.
Study Material used -
1. Rita Practice Test after each chapter - Difficulty level - High (scores 65-70%)
2. Scordo Question Bank - Difficulty Level Moderate but Increases after Test 13. (scores around 80%)
3. Andy Crowe Questions after each chapter - Easy -(Scores >85%)
4. Andy Crowe Full Length Exam - Easy - (Scores>85%)
5. Head First Test - Moderate – (Scores >70%)
6. Knowledge Woods Test - Prepares you for lengthy questions - (Score - 70-75%)
7. Oliver Lehman 75 Question Set - Hard (Score - 70%)
8. Oliver Lehman 175 Question Set - Hard (Score - 65%)
9. PMStudy Full Length Free Test - Extremely Good - Highly recommended
10. Pm prepcast - 4 Free Tests of 30 Questions each - Difficulty level - Moderate
Things that actually helped me
1. I noted all the questions that I did wrong will practicing and 10 days before the exam revisited them.
2. Prepared my own glossary.
3. In the end use to daily write all the Formulas.
4. Revised each chapter and tried to memorize the ITTOs
5. Practiced preparing the cheat sheet that I would use in the Exam
6. Revise PMBOOK
On the Day of the Exam
My exam was scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on 7th Nov. On this day I spent my time revisiting the ITTOs once and after that I relaxed myself. I reached the Prometric Centre around 4.00 p.m. and started with the exam at around 4.45 pm.
In the first 15mins time I dumped all the Formulas and other things for reference on the booklet.
I started slow with the exam reading every question thoroughly and in the first 1 hour I could only finish 50 questions.
In the next 1 hour I increased my speed a little and finished around 70 questions.
I took a 10mins break after the first 2 hours. I then completed the remaining 80 questions in approximately 1 Hour.
In all I completed the test in approximately 3:15 hours. After that took another 5mins break and then revisited all the questions that I had marked for review.
I completed the review in 30mins and in the next 15mins skimmed through the questions to randomly check if I had missed anything.
Once I submitted the test, the wait for the result was stressful and finally when the message "Congratulations" appeared I was elated.
The exam is not difficult but very tricky you need to prepare really hard for the Exam with a lot of focus.
