Just passed on first attempt.
Had my test Sunday at 9:00AM, used every second of the time and seeing the words everyone is looking for, Congratulations - pass.
I wanted to offer a little information that i hope can help others.
First thanks to this site and all the others that contribute. Thanks for your understanding when i was just starting asking bad questions. I found using your Search feature to find answers that have already been addressed very helpful. Reading everyone that posted their encouragement and processes for passing the test i also found very helpful.
This is the part i thought others might find helpful and encouraging. I am NOT one of those people that can read something a couple time and go take a test and pass. I get very nervous during test taking, i have a hard time understanding what the questions are really asking without reading it a couple time, and we all now that time is a major Constraint on this test. Last month i had my 50th birthday, so it has been proven that you can teach an old dog new tricks. So, be encouraged, with a commitment to the test process and dedicating the time required anyone can do it.
So, for me, not including the cost of the test itself i think with books and paid practice tests i spent about $200.00. So you can do this on the cheap, it just takes more time.
I bought two books "Used" - Ritas 7th edition and Kim Heldman and read them both twice and taking many many notes, This was very time consuming and made a good reference that i used all during my studying and re-studying. Dont know if anyone else found this problem but for me i would learn something and two weeks later would completely forget it. Taking my notes really helped to continue reviewing the same topics.
The second best study tool i used was posting all the Process Groups, Processes, & ITTO on multiple spreadsheets. I posted all these on the wall in my office and would continue to use as a reference. Non stop review and looking at how thing tied to each other really helped having printed and posted on the wall.
The final and by far best process for studying was taking practice test after practice test. I found this the single most import tool for passing the PMP.
PMZilla 200 plus 75 tough questions - I did them two or three times. Excellent
Olivers 75 free online and 175 PDF questions - i did both tests at least two time.
101 math questions Scribd, i found very helpful, be prepared, had a lot of math questions, nothing really hard just now all the standard cold.
PMStudy - Free 200, Paided test 1, test 2, test 3 & Test 4. - for me these were one of the best. You get three days so i would take the test on day 1, review all missed and uncertain questions on day 2, and re-test the second time on day 3. So this gave me a lot of study questions for review. Well worth the money.
PMPforSure - I did the Free 100, and paid for the 30 day access for the other tests, I completed tests 1, test 2, test 3, test 4. and test 5. making sure to review all missed and not clear questions. I found this very hard for me because of the grammer and language difference. They were all great questions and really challenged me to understand the hidden one line answers in a question. I found the gammer issues made it a good prep test because you sure did need to know the answer to even understand what they were asking.
Did both the book tests at the end of the chapters.
That is it, Two Books twice, some notes, posted on the wall, and as many prep test questions as i could get.
Hope this helps others. Thanks again for everyones help.
