interesting PMP question to discuss
Hallo everybody,
I faced the folllowing PMP question and I have difficulty to understand its answer:
The Question:
In order to implement a quality assurance activity to supplment exisiting quality control activities, which of the following is the right tool for this purpose?
a)Benchmarking
b)Run Chart
c)Expert Judgement
d)Statistical Sampling
The answer:
Run chart and statistical sampling are quality control tools and techniques. Benchmarking is a quality planning technique. Therefore, expert judgement is the best choice which can identify how and when quality assurance activity should be performed in order to have minimum project distruptions and maximum benifits realization.
My Comment:
when I check the PMP Preparation Book of Rita Mulcahy, I find that all tools used in the plan quality process can be used in the perform quality assurance process. So I would have chosen Benchmarking since it is used in the plan quality process. Why am I wrong with thie thinking?

Good question
IMHO the key to select among answers is the phrase - to supplement existing quality control activities. B and D both are quality control techniques, which I may say existing quality control techniques/activities. Between Benchmarking and Expert Judgement, which one is more useful to supplement existing quality control.
Both are useful in my opinion, but I would include benchmarking, also is a type of expert judgement, whether benchmarking is relevent to supplement control tools or not. benchmarking uses preferably competitor data/industry insights / even your own organizational best results.
I will go with expert judgement to answer the question.
