Ideal way to prepare for exam
Submitted by gaurav on Tue, 02/08/2011 - 05:44
What is the best way to prepare for the exam?
I am using PMBOK and Rita's prep guide to prepare for the exam. However, I feel that as I move on to the next topic I tend to kind of forget portions of the previous topic. Will get it easier to remember once I gone through both the books twice? (plan to read both at least 3 times)
Will really appreciate any tips.
Thanks

Its normal to forget some of the portions of the previous topic, my suggestion would be:
1. Everytime you read Rita, do attempt all the 40 questions given at the end of each chapter.Key thing here is, attempt those 40 questions as if u are giving PMP...i.e., attempt all 40 Q's, once finished compare your answers with the correct ones. With this you would be able to find the gaps quickly.
2. After a full reading of Rita/PMBOK, give a 200 questions test from:
* Free exam: http://www.oliverlehmann.com/contents/free-downloads/175_PMP_Sample_Questions.pdf
* Head First PMP online exam simulator: http://www.headfirstlabs.com/PMP/free_exam/
3. Read Rita 2 to 3 times, everytime do not forget to do the 40 questions given at the end of each chapter. Shame on me, but I could not complete reading pmbok even once.
4. If possible make your own notes, it helps a lot in remembering.I made my own notes (inspired from chowdary),which is already uploaded on this site with name: "PMP Notes - Rajesh Nair.xls"
All the very best Gaurav.
