Dear All
I passed the PMP exam yesterday in Riyadh/Saudi Arabia. This was my first attempt. I just want to share my experience with you guys.
My score in each domain was as follows:
Initiating, Planning, Executing, M&C: Proficient.
Closing, Ethics: Moderately proficient.
To be honest with you, I didnt expect this score! My biggest concern was to pass the exam before the end of August because PMI will make some changes to exam.
I studied Rita and PMBOK only. I took Fastrack PMP, Super PMP exams, and PMstudy paid tests(4). My average scoring in these tests was around 85%.
The questions in the real exam were generally shorter and easier than Fastrack PMP and Super PMP. Closer to PMstudy style and length (don’t expect the same questions!).
The only problem I had in the exam was with Ethics questions because many questions were asking about the PMI code of ethics and conduct (definitions) rather than giving scenarios and asking you what to do. I don’t know where you can find these things! I think it is not mentioned in Rita and PMBOK.
The questions were in both Arabic and English language. The Arabic translation was misleading and useless!
I am glad that despite of my small PM experience (4 years) and my short preparation, I was able to clear the exam with very good score. Thanks God!
Sorry for my poor English:)

Mabrook brother. 1. How many
Mabrook brother.
1. How many times did you read Rita and PMBOK?
2. How many times did you do the Fast Track tests?
3. By SuperPMP you mean the exam which is inside the FastTrack correct?
4. Did you memorize the ITTOs?
By the way I live in Saudi Arabia too.
Thank you.

I couldnt memorize all ITTOs...
Thanks brother
1. I read Rita twice. PMBOK three times. In my opnion, reading the PMBOK is the key to pass the exam. However, you cannot start with it because it is very dry!
2. I did the Fastrack and pmstudy only once. I solved all questions, i.e. not only the PMP and Super PMP tests but also the knowledge areas and processes.
3. yes, Super PMP is inside Fast track. This exam is more difficult than the real exam and the questions are longer.
4. I tried to memorize all ITTOs but I couldnt! you can use logic to remember the ITTOs and to answer questions. If you can momorize them, that is perfect. Before I started the exam (survey time) , I wrote down all the 42 processes and what ever ITTOs I could remember. Guess what, I did not touch this paper during the exam!!
I don't say that the exam is easy. many questions are tricky and I had to guess like 4 questions (no idea). In addition, my english is not perfect so It took me longer time to read questions. I finished the exam ten minutes before time out. so I was not able to review all marked questions.
Good luck!

Congratulations Sameer
Congratulations to you Sameer.
I also passed the PMP exam on the first try on 8th July 2011.
I also did the Rita, PBBOK, FasTrak ( Knowledge Areas and Super PMP), PM Study simulated exam, Exam Central simulated exam, HeadFirst and Lehman prectise tests.
I knew the 42 processes and equations perfectly and did not need to write them down. In fact I derived two useful equations of my own too and kept those in mind. Example, if you have N1 people and you now have N2 people, how many channels have you added? Answer: D(S-1)/2 where D= Difference ( N2-N1); S= N1+N2
I used the KA/PG excel sheet to create separate sheets with certain specific Input and Outputs, such as OPA, EEF, PM Plan and their updates plus CRs and WPI and WPM.
This gave me a structure to remember 90% of the Inputs/Outputs.I do not have a formal clean copy. Just hand written stuff.
Well, hope the PMP helps you in your career.
