I am a PMP - Thanks Pmzilla and everyone here
Hello friends I am now a PMP and just it was today. I am a second timer to be very honesty and I failed last year around April-2011. Failure taught me to think about how close I was to success before I gave up and I discovered various mistakes I did the last time. I call this a mistake because I passed PMP with P in all 5. And hence I have full right to call my mistake that I did last time and these were:
1. Took multiple advice and read all possible book I heard i.e. Rita, PMBOK and Andy Crowe, Kim Heldman.
2. I tried all test I saw in the forum post without checking how good they were. I did not know that I was eating poison and expecting cure.
3. Before exam (15-20) days I re-studied all possible books and tried best to give more and more free exam. More and more confusion.
Lets Talk about my todays exam:
1. It's different what I saw in April-2011. There was no direct question on Professional Conduct directly.
2. I noticed around 20-30 questions were directly from the PMBok Definition i.e. summary definition at the last of the book you see.
3. There were only around 15 questions formula based and 10 could be answer just by reading the question carefully and applying addition/subtraction/profit/loss/percentage simple mathematics. Guys - Don't put your head in formula based questions its that's simple and you can solve with common sense.
4. About 90% of questions had mix type - some very complex situational, some simple situational, some definitions based and some one liner. Many questions were from "Quality Audits and Assurance", Project Charter, Scope Statement, Risk Mitigations, Conflicts type, Team building activities (forming, norming etc)
5. I completed my exam in 3:10 hours and did not mark any question for review, because in one of the article I read, the first time you attempt an answer to objective question has 80% chance of accuracy.
Lesson Learnt and recommendations:
1. Not sure Why Rita's question bank and PMPTrend is so much hyped - You will not even get a SINGLE question that has such low grade English language check choices. In Rita's question bank I have observed the English Language testing more.
2. Reading one time Rita (6th) and 3-4 times PMBok is sufficient enough. Please note - I noticed around 20-30 questions were directly from the PMBok Definition.
3. PMZilla Tough test is good while you are reading books as it has mind opener questions. You will not get much, such touch question in exam.
4. HeadFirst and Oliver question is also good, but they are too much situational and I did not see such question much in the exam.
5. Edwel, Exam Central, Simplilearn & Techfaq360 - Free test are of not much use. They have their own world and does not even resemble 50% of the questions I saw in my exam.
6. PMStudy is great, it resembles like 80% of the actual PMP Exam. I tried Tried the Free one and its 4th one. They need to update their questions as I see some questions from the old exam type also.
7. I also bought PMPForSure package after seeing few post here and in some other forum too. Although not much hyped (because of its low cost) this is Awesome. I would say their question is like 95% exactly similar what you can expect in the PMP Exam. Don't expect from them robot science questions, too tough, very very high quality. They have a collection that shows the most close questions what you can get in the real exam. PMPForSure - You rock! (From realistic perspective)
Pmzilla - Thanks for such a creative forum. You deserve my success too. This forum rocks! Now its my party time! I wish everyone All the Best!

I was...
Congratulations Chandram. I was waiting for your post today as you did mention that today was your day of exam. Your LLs are wonderful. Since I am also a second-timer so my impression about PMPoforsure is the same. They are very good. Giving their exam, for me, was like sitting in a Prometric centre. When I got 42/50, I was elated. PMBoK is what I am essentially concentrating on. Kim, Crowe et al are distant second. Kudos agin Chandram. Savour the moment. Your hatd work has FINALLY paid off :).. WOW!!!

I scored 32/50q and will be taking my first 100q tomorrow morning at my local libaray.

Congrats
Congrats Chandram for your success and a wonderful LL. My 2 cents to all those who are preparing please read PMBok thoroughly and any 1 supplement book which you have aceess to . Please think logically on exam and try to map your learning with the situation described or asked on the exams. IT is not that difficult to figure out the correct answers if you have studied well with sound fundamentals/ concepts. Please do not consider it as any other TechnicalCErtification exam in which questions are repeated from 2-3 sets of questions. I believe they have few thousands in their kitty :). Therefore study well , understand the concepts and apply it judiciously. I am sure u will clear it.
I cleared PMP in first attemp with 4 weeks of quality study with all P's...
Thanks, Nishant

Hey Saurabh24jain..........
I am sorry if I had not properly written my LL. When did I say any paid site that I tried gave me same questions that I saw in PMP?
Please understand ----- Pmzilla tough questions, Pmsttudy, Pmpforsure, Oliver, Headfirst etc were some of the helpers that showed me a good example where I can get a feel of the real PMP exam and its questions. Not even 1 question that I can remember now was from these paid groups that I tried. When I say it resembles 95% or 80% means the type of questions you can expect in the PMP exam. I again repeat ----- the question TYPE and not the question CONTENTS.
