A huge sigh of relief !! Cleared PMP First Attempt
It has been a while since I have been eating, breathing & dreaming PMP but I can't really express how it feels to have passed the exam finally. During the past few months I have been observing the posts on this forum which have really helped and contributed towards my success. Hence I wish to share the experiences of my PMP journey & contribute in my own little way. Here is what I did:
I took my time with preparing given the constraints with amount of time available on a daily basis for studying. I started in the 2nd half of December. However all this while I tried to maintain continuity and tried to study on a daily basis devoting 2-3 hrs on a daily basis. Here is the sequence of reading:
1. PMBOK - 1st Reading
2. Rita - 1st Reading
3. Attended PMP Training and read the PMBOK (Reading 2) one more time alongside the training while revising whatever was taught on a daily basis.
4. Rita Fast Track - Attempted all the Qs Knowledge Area wise.
5. Gave a few full attempts - I was scoring around 67-68% during 2-3 attempts.
6. In order to improve the score, I read the explanation of all the Questions Knowledge Area wise to understand the gaps in the knowledge and read the subsequent chapters in Rita (2nd Reading).
7. Rita Fast Track - 2nd attempt. Reading the explanation of Questions and 2nd reading of Rita keeping in mind the gaps helped in a big way to improve the score.
8. Full attempts - I now started to score 75 to 80 %
9. PMBOK - 3rd Reading
So to summarize I studied PMBOK 3 times, Rita twice, attempted Rita fast track Qs twice and made sure I understood the reasoning behind the Questions. I found the Headfirst & PMStudy full attempts to be most relevant and on same standards as PMP exam. I scored 78% & 80% on both these exams. I believe if you are scoring more than 75% on these then you have really high chances of passing the exam. Finally this is how I scored on the exam:
MP on 4 Process Groups & P on Monitoring & Control.
I hope my experience will help the PMP aspirants in some way. Wish you all the best !!
