How to manage time during exam ?
Submitted by bridge on Sun, 05/26/2013 - 14:25
I took my first mock exam. - PMStudy free exam.
I could complete the 4 hour exam in 4 hours 20 mins.
Once the pressure was built, I forgot all the formulas and just marked the questions on EVM. So actually selected the answer on those questions randomly. Still, I was short of time.
I got 68%.
I feel, this is really worrisome. Especially, when people say that the free exam of PMStudy is not having the difficulty level of the real examp.
Can you guys help me on how to manage time here ?

My Advice might be contrary to everyone's advice
Based on my PMP experience, I passed last week (4P's 1 MP)
In the real exam, any question where it was long enough where I needed to scroll, I DID NOT READ JUST RANDOMLY guessed and I marked them for reviews, except critical path questions where they seems long but they mathematically, so I answered them right away. Based on my experience such long questions are around less that 10 questions and those 10 questions take around 20-25 minutes
For rest of the questions, if I cannot conclude the answer after reading question TWICE I just made calculated guess and marked for review and moved on.
You want to finish going through all questions before 4 hours, S that you can go through and answer so called all easier questions are in the end, So if you miss last 20-25 question chances are you might missed some easier ones, But if you finish going through all questions and you just missed the REVIEW questions in that case you are only missing the tougher ones because you were not able to get there answers in first paass
Based on the above approach, I had 25 questions marked for review

Good advice! Advoid spending
Good advice! Advoid spending too much time on calculations or long questions that you can't readily validate. Just mark them for review and move on. From past experience, such questions are clearer during review.
