How to isolate BP domains?

Hey guys! So I didn't pass the exam on my first try. Got 1P, 2 MP, and 2 BP.

The 2 BP were in Planning and Monitoring and Controlling. I purchased Rita's book yesterday as I only used a course on Udemy and the PMBOK for guidance this go around.

Looking at my history for some small practice quizzes I did (they provided scoring similar to what the PMP does), I was also below proficient in Planning and Monitoring and Control a consistent amount.

I plan on going through Rita's book and answering all questions, as well as keeping a stricter study schedule for the next month before taking the test. But, what can I do to isolate these two domains? I know what I'm not good at, and I want to fix those areas!! :)

Project management is iterative cycle. Less proficiency is any domain is not because you lacking in that particular domain. Since you have seen the PMP exam questions, you may have noted that you may not be able to make out by seeing PMP exam questions which domain it belonged to. I would suggest, you read entire Rita again and then PMBOK. Once done take good practice tests.

Rohit, PMP

It is important to determine the root cause of failure. I have written a post on 15 Reasons Why People Failed the PMP Exam

You can take a look at it and determine what went wrong and then prepare your strategy for the 2nd time.

All the best.

Hello Drink,

Sorry to hear this form you. Project Management Professional (PMP) is not an easy exam to attempt. Lasting for 4 hours, it has 200 multiple choice questions, of which one has to answer at least 106 correctly to qualify. The exam is designed to be extremely difficult so that only the best candidates can get the certification. This is the reason why PMP holds immense value and its certificate holders get paid handsomely.

Another interested fact put across by Project Management Institute (PMI) is that approximately 80 percent of PMP exam takers fail at their very first attempt. Though this revelation should prevent aspirants from getting disheartened with failure, it is not a good place to be in. Yes, handling of poor results and disappointment can get to even the best of candidates and make them lose their confidence.

I would like to share an article about How to Cope With Failure in PMP Examination. Hope this will helps you. Hoope this will helps you and all the best for your next attempt.
