How come WBS is not an input to Estimate Activity Durations?

How come WBS is not an input to Estimate Activity Durations considering the following extract from PMBOK: "work package is the lowest level in the WBS, and is the point at which cost and activity durations for the work can be reliably estimated and managed."?

I see that WBS is an input to Estimate Costs as part of Scope Baseline which is logical to me.

Hi,

Here is my view.

Since we are only estimating the duration for each activity in this process we need only the activity List and activity attributes (Which in turn as you might know is decomposed from WBS).

So in my opinion having WBS in addition to Activity list and Activity Durations for estimating the duration for each Activity becomes redundant since each work package in  WBS is already fully decomposed into a complete list of activities in Activity Activity attributes.

Yes Raaj is correct, adding WBS as input again is redundant. We have already reached much ahead in cycle, plus , we have Project Scope Statement as one of the inputs.
