Hi,

I am Rasool from AT & T. I have 7 years of experience in Information Technology. I am very much interested to apply the exam and currently preparing for the exam. Can any one explain me how to apply for the exam and what is the basic critiria to apply for this exam.

Please provide me the details. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Rasool.

Rasool,

If you want to take the PMP exam, then you have to fulfil some minimum requirements. If you have a Bachelors degree: 4,500 hours of project management and 35 hour of training in PM. If you don't have a bachelors , it:s: 7,500 hours of project management and 35 hours of training in PM. But these are just the basics.

My recommendation to you: Read the PMP Credentials handbook:

The PMI has published a Credentials Handbook, which you can find at the following URL: http://www.pmi.org/PDF/PDC_PMPHandbook.pdf.
The Credentials Handbook explains everything that you want to know
about the process of taking the PMP® exam and becoming PMP® certified.
It discusses the following topics and questions:

  • Eligibility: Who can take the exam? How much
project management experience do I need? What are these 35 contact hour
    all about?
  • Examination Information: What
is the format of the exam? How much does it cost? How do I get my
score? What about re-examinations? Can people with handicaps take the
    exam?
  • Taking the exam: What form of ID do I have to bring to the exam? What if I have to cancel? Can I appeal if I fail?
  • After
the exam: How do I keep my certification active? What is the
professional conduct, that I have to follow? Can I tell others, what
    the exam was like?

Reading this handbook takes about 20 minutes and it should be the
FIRST 20 minutes on your journey to becoming a certified PMP®. It will
answer most of your questions about the procedures of applying and
taking the exam.
