Few questions from mock up - clarification needed

Friends,

I was taking a lite mock up test from Christopher Scordo and came accorss the following questions.

1.  What does a Cost Performance Index (CPI) of 1.0 indicate?
A.The project is over budget.

B.The project is right on budget.

C.The project is under budget.

D.The project is ahead of schedule

I slected B as the answer. But author says its D.

In PMBOK it says,  CPI  greater than one indicates that you have spent less than you forecasted to this point. and <1 indicates cost overrun [PMBOK 183] [Project Cost Management] . It did not tell the meaning for exact 1; but read some where 1 mean on the budget.

Please explain me if I'm correct.

2. Which of the following is not a general management technique used to generate different approaches to execute and perform the project work?

A.Lateral thinking

B.Six Thinking Hats

C.Map Out

D.Brainstorming

I selected option D as it is a requirements gathering technique; but my answer was wrong. The correct answer by author was C.

Is brainstroming a management technic?

Thanks

Jai

Ist question is - perhaps not in scordo.

or some manipulation is there in your copy.

---------------------------

Second question is framed on lines in PMBOK P 114.

Six hats thinking  and Map out are not  PMBOK terms, inplace PAIR WISE COMPARATION is there.

But in management world , Six hate thinking is a quite known term.

Map out means

ThesaurusLegend: Synonyms Related Words Antonyms
Verb 1. map out - plan, delineate, or arrange in detail; "map one's future"

By its dictionary meaning, it may be a technique , but it is not commonly used in Management.

IMHO, you are right on the first answer and wrong in the second.

1. There is some error in the question formulation, becouse it could not be D: CPI is not about schedule, is about cost...

I recommend you try better questions (pmbok 5th uptodate) in www.pmsimu.com.

2. Bainstorming is a technique used in many areas of adminstration, like desing, product development, solution finding in any area... Well, the example are not good but take a look into wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainstorming
