Here is a cool artifact that I have come across. I am not saying that this is useful for all projects. I am saying that I find it cool. And may be useful in some projects (but not all).

 

 

Another is a hill climbing chart. To show - how far we have come and how much more to go. Especially if the work involves tracking progress of hundreds of similar tasks.
