Submitted by vijayavadrevu on Wed, 04/24/2013 - 18:44
Activity A = 4days, B = 3 days, C=7days, D=5days and E=3days. A is predecessor of B and C, E is successor of B and D, C is predecessor of D. There is a lag of 3 days between C and D. There are 2 non working days.What do you see from this data?
A) Duration is 22 days
B)Schedule is 19 days
C) Duration is 24 days and schedule is 22 days
D)Duration is 22 days and schedule is 24 days
Answer is D
Can someone explain as to how to solve this problem?

NWD = Non-Working Day's can
NWD = Non-Working Day's can be inserted anywhere in the path, for simplicity I have inserted them at the end.
Path-1: A-B-E-NWD === Schedule = 4+3+3+2 = 12 ==== Duration = Schedule - NWD = 12 - 2 = 10
Path-2: A-C-LAG-D-E-NWD ==== Schedule = 4+7+3+5+3+2 = 24 ==== Duration = Schedule - NWD = 24-2 = 22
Path-1 is non-critical - Ignore
Path-2 is critical path - Becomes the Ans = D

E/3

so duration of project is 22 days
and 2 non working days if added any where
schedule will be 24 days
like your semester paper (exam) days are 10
but there is 4 days gap
then dur = 10, sche = 14
