Confused much!

Hi All and SS,

As we all know that PMPlan is a strict no-no when it comes to input or output of any (20) of the PPG or Planning Process Group.

My question is, if this is the fact then how come PMPlan updates are an output of Plan Risk Responses, which is into planning.

PMPlan or its updates are not used in any of the planning process groups. Is this Brainbok's mistake, or a rarity, or an exception? Once I send this query, I might check the Bible (PMBOK)!

Looking forward for an answer to clear my doubts on it.

On the 2nd page for every KA, PMBOK clearly states its ITTOs.

In Risk Management, PMPlan updates are indeed an output of Plan Risk Responses.

Hey Kranti,

That’s the basic issue when you accept project management as reference bookish theory. Bible clearly says Process Groups interact and shows the level of overlap at various times. PMBOK has said so many times that what is documented is NOT always true. Project is like life i.e it does not have a fix and straight line graph.

Read this from PMBOK:
The Planning Process Group provides the Executing Process Group with the project management plan and project documents, and, as the project progresses, it often entails updates to the project management plan and the project documents.

You will always be wrong if you read book and then go to project management. If you want to be right, understand the scenario that being said and then go into the project management.

The bottom line is that, if I need project management plan as an input to plan anything or as an output to update it…why not? What’s wrong here? If my scenario has justification, I will use it even if PMBOK or any other reference books (most likely) does not mention explicitly.
