You are the Project Manager, leading a project team made up of staff from Engg, Mfg, Mktg departments of the company. At a regular team meeting, the team is discussing which Project Mgt software should be used on the project. There is a variety of opinion and nobody wans to give in, in this situation, what conflict resolution technique should you use >

b) Postponing
c) Compromising between all existing opinions

I think answer is a -
I think answer is a - smoothing. - Reasoning - Seems to be a matrix organization as corss-functional divisions/departments are involved and no body is ready to give in. Hence it is better to let situation calm down and emphazise on common opinoins i.e focus on areas of aggreement rather than differences.
Reasoning for disqualification of other options
1. Option d - controlling is not a conflict resolution technique.
2. Option c - compromising can not be a option as no one is ready to given up.
3. Option b - postponing is a conflict resolution technique however not recommanded unless unavoidable.

Postponing - I will probably
Postponing - I will probably map it to Withdrawal/avoiding where it is expected problem will go away if we wait etc.
