Cleared PMP on first try
Hi All,
I am happy to infor that I cleared my pmp today.
My special thanks to pmzilla forum which helped me to learn and prepare well. Lessons learnt posted by others were very helpful to fine tune my preparation and also to assess my preparation level.
Overall the exam questions were similar to the mock exams and Rita chapter end questions but at a slightly more difficult level than the mock exams. I had around 25 mathematical questions and that really helped me to clear the exam I assume.
I marked all the mathematical sums and did them at the end as I followed the same approach during my mock exams. I generally finished the mock exams in 3 hours but I had only 2 mins left in the original exam and I clicked the submit button.
I would like to contribute by lessons learnt.
1. Read HeadFirst to start with and thats really helpful to get the PMP foundation.
2. Read Rita 6th edition twice
3. Listened to PMchamp audio/video sessions in parallel to reading PMBOK.
3. Read PMBOK one more time and the glossary.
4. Took tests from the following pmstudy, Scordio, pmpforsure, HeadFirst 200 questions.
5. Read Rajesh Nair notes on the day before pmp exam.
6. Referred HeadFirst and Rita for mathematical questions and formula at the last minute and thats a big life saver.
My score in mock tests are as follows:
Pmstudy 1 - 70%
PMstudy 2- 74%
PM Study3- 81%
Pmstudy 4 - 78%
PMPforsure tests- average 70 to 75%
HeadFirst - 84 %
Scordo Tests - 1-10 - 85 to 90 %
Oliver Lehman- 78%
Scordo tests 11- 18 -70-78
The only motto to pass is to keep reading daily and bridge the gaps by finding wrong answers from mock tests and study the weak areas.
Good luck to all future pmp candidates. !

What was your result in final exam?
Also what is your recommendation for last 2 days preparation. what should one do 48 hours before exam?
Are the questions in real exam easier than PMStudy test?

I got
I got 2MPs(Initiation,Planning),
2Ps (Executing, Monitoring control) and
1 BP(Closing) .
For final day, I would recommend to take good rest and read Rajesh Nair Excel notes,PMBOK glossary, formulaes from Rita/HeadFirst , focus on Initiating and Closing processes as they are easy to score and read some ITTOs . I would say good sleep is a must before attending the 4 hours exam which was excruciating.
I had many lengthy questions in the real exam which consumed lot of my exam time.
Mock tests from pmstudy or pmpforsure were similar to the real exam only to some extent. Mock exam questions would become predictable after doing couple of mock exams and I was able to finish mock exams in less than 3 hours. The questions in real exam were definitely tougher than other mock tests for sure.
I would recommend taking atleast 3-4 good full mock tests to gain enough confidence, concentration to sit continuously for 4 hours. Also do not get distracted with few difficult questions even if you dont know the answer. Keep continuing by marking difficult questions without spending too much time on a single question and you should be able to do well.
All the best !

Thank you for the
Thank you for the information
Were the math questions straightforward as long as you know formula or they were complicated?
