Cleared PMP - First attempt - April 12th

Hi all,

I cleared the PMP today in first attempt. I got below scores

Initiation - MP

Planning - P

Execution - MP

M&C - MP

Closing- BP

Just few tips for you

1) There are only few formulas and calculations - Just study very well on these chapters and you will get lot of questions on some or the other calculation. You can easily confirm with your result and tally. You can do it at the end if the questions are big or involves multiple calculations. However, you will have the comfort level prepared for it

2) I was tensed after going thru first few questions as a lot of the initial questions were tough. I marked a lot of questions in the beginning was review. However, questions from 100 to 150 were very easy. So, dont get tensed even when few initial questions are tough

3) After going thru a lot of back to back questions on situations, you might get bored suddently while reading the next question. It is sometimes easy if we read out answers and then the question. If you know the answer subject very well, it will boost you to read question

4) Target average of 1 minute per question. So, plan to complete in around 200-220 minutes for 200 questions and 20 minutes for review marked questions. You will not get a chance to redo most or majority of the questions. So, while responding first time, read the question throughly and respond.

5) In the pad notebook, try to also list down numbers 1 to 200. I did that and circled only most and less worrysome questions.  I was first focusing on less worrysome questions to handle it first and then in the last 15 minutes focused on tough ones.

6) Understand the concept uses and differences in the input, output and T&T. This will help you answer a lot of questions Risk, quality and procurement - Do focus equally on these chapters like scope or time.

All the best

Thanks,

Balaji

congrats.

How many numericals and ITTO based questions you experienced?

Hi,

Congratulations!

How was you preparation in the last few days?

  • What online exams did u give and the score that you got?
  • Which books did you read??

thanks,

I studied till cost management 3 months back and was revising it very well. The rest of the chapters I started nearly 3 weeks back and tried to understand the concepts and I had my own shortcuts for ITTO which also helped me., I went through 2 online tests in the last one week - Headfirst and Skillsign. I was scoring around 65%. I went thru PMBOK around 3 times, QAI material - 2 times and Rita - one time. One more thing I did is, I wrote down all the key concepts while studying and it helped me to ensure I was reviewing all key points in the last 2-3 daysd. Example, if you are styding on cost management, you can list down all the pmbok related concepts in 2-3 pages and key points from Rita and other material. You can also include the key points from Rita's questions and online exam results that you can review and remember as and when you study the chapter. There were good questions from ITTO and its mostly situational.

Thanks,

Balaji
