Cleared PMP !
Hi Guys !
First a BIG THANKS to the PMZILLA team ... you guys are doing a wonderful job by guiding the future PMP's
Well my path to attain the three letters PMP too had many roadblocks, but by God's grace i have accomplished my dream.
My Study Plan:
=========
1. Enrolled for the 35hours mandatory training, was trained on Crosswinds material (http://www.crosswindpm.com)
2. After about an year, re-started the PMP preparation (strictly discourage ppl. from doing this)
3. Read the Crosswind material, prepared notes and solved the questions at end of each chapter
4. Again re-read the Crosswind material and solved Questions
5. Started solving the free questions available online
Head First Labs - 66% ===> i felt i was doing moderately ok ..
Oliver 75% Questions - 50% ===> Was totally shocked and started to feel the pressure
Realized that i needed to read the PMBOK thoroughly.
6. Started the PMBOK, read it word to word and prepared notes in-line.
7. Reading PMBOK was tiring so in-between i was practicing the free simulated questions and as well as Rita's PM FastTrack (although i did not read Rita's Book). Rita's questions were really top class, i was focusing on identifying by weak areas by throughly reading the explanations for each answer.
8. I could realize the effect of PMBOK and Rita's questions, i was doing well in the simulated Tests.
Average scores were between 65% to 75%
Had solved about 2500 questions.
9. Finally before the Exam, revised the Crosswind Notes, PMBOK Notes and notes from Rita's questions which i had got wrong.
On The Exam Day:
============
1. Reached the Prometric Center ahead of time, they do not allow anything inside the exam hall (No wrist watch, no pen ...etc;) they do provide a locker to put your stuff
2. Target was to solve 50 questions in each hour
3. Initially started to take more time for the first 50 questions, but that was justified as i had to settle down in the Environment.
4. Questions were straight forward but confusing, easy to eliminate 2 choices and tough to pick the right one from the remaining 2. I always used the elimination technique and always read the options from bottom to top.
5. Took a break to have a glass of water after the 100 questions
6. To my surprise there were about 20 questions which were lengthy, lots of questions on Risk and Time
7. I had marked few questions and had sometime at the end to re-visit them.
Leassons Learned:
============
1. Start preparing and schedule the exam immediately after attending the 35hours training.
2. Start reading the PMBOK early, definitely it would look dry initially but after 1 to 2 revisions, the PMBOK would look very interesting.
3. Parctise, Parctise and Parctise ... sit for 4 hours ...record your mistakes, learn from your mistakes
4. Do your Best and leave the rest to GOD
Finally again I would like to Thank PMZilla for this excellent forum
All The Best !
