Cleared PMP on 11th Feb 2010

Here is the summary of the preparation.

Read PMBOK thrice, Rita thrice, PM Road Trip summary chapters

>> Take PM Study Exam.
http://www.pmstudy.com/enroll.asp#PMP

(It's really tough to crack, after attempting this exam you will feel that it is very necessary to remember all in ITTO's, but that is not the case in the real exam. But this will be an eye opener for the people who just read all the books other than PMBOK.

Register here for free login credentials that allows you to take one simulation from examprofessor.com, they usually send the access details two days after your registration. This is really tough to crack.

Two tests one is of 75 questions and other one is of 175. Explanation for the answers is not so great, all the references point to some books

>> http://headfirstlabs.com/PMP/free_exam/  (Don't skip this)

>> http://www.pmroadtrip.com/pmp.html (Don't skip this)

This site is really a good one, it has the pdf book of all the chapters, go through all the summary at the end of each chapter.

This site has questions on each knowledge area and full length Simulation test of 220 questions.

>> Rita Mulcahy

I have practiced all the questions in the text book. It is really useful.

The paper was not so tough when you compare with some of the simulation exams tried to scare you. At the same time it was not so easy. I was not getting enough confidence even after studying and practicing so much. All together i have practiced more than 4,000 questions.

You need to have lot of patience while doing practice exams, few of them i am unable to complete in 4 hours, just rushed to complete. But this practicing will help you for sure. In the real exam you can easily complete within 4 hours. Myself took 5 min break once i am done with my first round, second round i have completed unanswered questions. Third round reviewed marked questions.

It's all about practice and visualizing real world scenarios. I have come across many questions on conflict resolution techniques. Overall it is not so tough as I thought but definitely it wasn't easy though.

Note # These are just my experience not a Heuristic :-)

Rafi.
