Change Request Question

In the 5th Month of 1 Year project, Project Manger recognizes that the team is not progressing as fast as planned, and will likely be a week or two late with the project. He has tried to compress the schedule, and has considered reducing scope. At this point, it seems there is no way to finish any earlier. Which of the following actions should Anand take?

A. Call the team together and implement mandatory Saturdays at work until the schedule is back on track.
B. Publish a revised forecasted completion date.
C. Recommend a change request to adjust the schedule baseline, extending the target date by two weeks.
D. Since he is only two months into the project, no action is needed at this time.

The Book this question is from says that Correct Answer is B i,e Publish a revised forecasted completion date.

But I thoough shouldn't be a chnage request to have the schedule baseline reflect the chnage (i.e. Answer C)

ans may be C or A, as the condition prevails, but B must be a 3rd conditional answer.

I would go for C. Recommend CR.

Analysis:

A: Asking team to do overtime will not be good for team's morale. You have to take care of the team too.

D. PM is a proactive person, hence he should do something when he is handed over some  problem

It leaves us 2 choices: B,C.

Publishing a new forecasted date (you can't just take decision pertaining to any baselines, it has to be approved by the stakeholders and it can be done only using a CR. Hence put a CR. If it gets approved, then you can update the schedule baseline and other docs and send a communication to the stakeholders.

Hence, C in IMHO is the best answer.
