CAPM or PMP

Hi All,

 

I am based in Vancouver Canada and thinking of doing CAPM or PMP but not really sure which certification to go for?

 

I have a masters degree with related experience to do both. Could you please advise which certification would be more helpful as I am planning to move to UAE after the certification is complete. I have a masters in management and working as an account manager (more sales oriented) in a company and not really sure if this is the path for me or would it help in finding me a good job in UAE. Please advise.

 

Also if you could advise me which books to start with. I have PMbok 4 which I am thinking to start with...

 PMP is more valuable and advanced certification , so if you meet the eligibility critieria you should go for PMP. Checkout pmi.org or "new2PMP section here

Planning phase has least money involved because it’s all about making various baselines (scope, cost, time, risk, quality etc) and getting it approved. The worst case is the plan rejection, but this is iterative as you can re-plan your baselines as per PMBOK. Hence planning process should be least risky.
