Andy book or Rita book as a reference along with PMBOK5
Submitted by Manoj Sharma on Sat, 10/12/2013 - 11:26
Hello,
I would like to ask the Admin, experts and current PMP's that if we need to choose one reference book for PMP exam ( ONLY ONE PLEASE) along with PMBOK5, which one I should refer and why you are recommending this particular book?
I dont want to go through multiple books at this time and like to concentrate on PMBOK5 along with a reliable reference book.
Thanks,
Manoj Sharma

Since Rita's book gives
But then Andy's book and few others like kim , headfirst are also quite popular.

Choose the one that will meet your study needs
I believe just a plain recommendation on "which book to choose" could be misleading and biased. Each one of these books has its merits.
Rita Mulcahy - More of an "exam prep" book with "Tricks of trade". Helps you pass a PMP exam. Most popular of the lot. Some say this book is "all you need" for passing the PMP exam
Andy Crowe - I have heard that this book deals with ITTO's in a brilliant manner. Many people say that they understood Project management concepts fairly well with this book
Kim Heldman - This is a "Subject Matter Expert" book. Very comprehensive and Intense; I hear it is stacked Process group wise as compared to Knowledge area wise as you would see in most other books
HeadFirst - Absolute FUN !! This explains the PMBOK in an easy to understand and easy to learn manner. This was my choice. You dont ever get overwhelmed when you pick up this book because the writing style is so casual and easy.
It would be more appropriate if you understand your study pattern, preferences and choose the one that would best fit you. Good luck !!
