35 contact hours fulfilled by college courses?

Hey Friends,

I'm new to PMP.

I have BTech & PGDIM education background, I have undergone PM related courses as part of my full-time PGDIM curriculum. As per the final marksheet, the total of these courses tantamount to 68.75 contact hours, as detailed below.

Please let me know how can I check/confirm that these 68.75 contact hours meet PMI's 35 contact hours eligibilty requirement?

Course Name Credits Classes Hrs TotalContact Hrs
PM techniques & software 1.25 20 1.25 31.25
Project Fomulation & appraisal 0.5 20 1.25 12.5
Project Plannng & Implementation 1 20 1.25 25

Thanks in anticipation.

It is difficult to assertain from your question whether you have enough PM experience to take PMP exam or not. If you have just completed your education and do not have any Project Management experience, PMP is not for you yet.

If you fulfill the PM experience criteria, these 68.75 contact hours should meet your contact hour requirement criteria. I am not aware of any tool which can verify the contact hours beforehand. You will be certain only when you apply for the PMP exam. But I am quite sure they will do. The PMP handbook says - "If you have completed a university or college course on project management that met for three hours per week for 15 weeks, you would record 45 contact hours. If only a portion of a course dealt with project management, only the hours spent on project management can be applied toward the total."  PMI might asks for details like course description, syllabus, completion certificate, transcripts etc.

If you want to take an online course for PMP preparation, I would highly suggest Encertify. The PMP Online Course is not only of high quality, you will also get 37 PMI pre-approved contact hours.

It would be awesome to see more PM related courses. - Paul Savramis
