Virtual Teams

If a virtual team is experiencing difficulties getting along, providing progress, etc,..is it recommended to co-locate or improved communications? Is it realistic for a virtual team to co-locate?

Well if there is a possibility to colocate and if colocation increases the chances of the project success then you should go for colocation.
Even practically we do that in real life projects. During critical phases of project we ask some team members to travel and colocate with others.

I agree with the comment above. In real-life look at the benefits versus the cost of colocation and make a call. Improved communication should be the first step and tried very early on. If there are problems, go ahead with cost Vs benefits analysis of co-location.
