Two questions

1). A project is considered successful when
A. the product of the project has been manufactured
B. the project sponsor announces the completion of the project
C. the product of the project is turned over to the operations area to handle the ongoing
aspects of the project
D. the project meets or exceeds the expectations of the stakeholders

Answer is D

But when it exceeds expectations doesn't that mean it is gold plating

2)Your company manufactures small kitchen appliances. It is introducing a new product
line of appliances in designer colors with distinctive features for kitchens in small spaces.
These new products will be offered indefinitely starting with the spring catalog release. To determine the characteristics and features of the new product line, you will have to perform
which of the following?
A. Fast tracking
B. Consulting with the stakeholders
C. Planning the project life cycle
D. Progressive elaboration

Answer is D

But shouldn't it be B??

Q1 in my opinion has ambiguity

When project meets or exceed expectations of stakeholders cannot be the answer. Client is the key stakeholder. Project will be considered successful if it meets the stated objectives of the Client in the Project Charter and not all Stakeholders.

Q2 - D would be correct since you need to do progressive elaboration to determine features / characteristics. Consulting with Stakeholders is too generic and vague. This should not be confused with getting requirements from Clients. Stakeholder is anyone who is positively or negatively impacted by the outcome of the project and not necessarily client.

The words "....indefinitely ...." in the question. Need to select the Progressive elaboration to determine features/characteristics.

Assume your project is in multiple phases.
In the first phase they released the product in the market spring on words.
After launching customers suggested with new more features/characteristics, since this product is indefinitely selling. In that case next phase of the project this new scope considered. i.e. Progressively elaborated.

If am wrong correct me.

I agree with your opinion on ambiguity.

from your response can I assume that objectives of the client in PC is different from stakeholder expectations?

I do understand exceeding the expectation in this way.
Suppose you need to deliver a project on 9th June
and you delivered it on 6th June. It will be treated as exceeding the expectation(Not at all Gold plating).

Delivering the project on 9th is meeting the expectations.
