Question - on Crashing vs Fastracking

Here is a question that I would need advices to understand

===================

A project Manager has been assigned to manage a project to develop a cheap priced laptop for a compagny that does not have this expertise.

The project is three weeks behind schedule and under budget. After calculating the estimate at completion EAC, the project manager finds that project will be $545,589$ under budget, but is expected to take four weeks longer than expected.  What should the project manager do?

A. Implement Golf Plating

B. Crash the Project

C. Fast Track the project

D. Outsource the Project

Answer :

The PM's best course of action is Fast Tracking the project since the constraint is time and not money...

====================

I tought it was B, because as you don't have the expertise, it could be a good idea to hire someone who is good and "crash" some activities with that expert. Also if we don't have constraint with money, that is good because crashing cost money.

Also I don't understand the Answer, i tought Fast-Track doesnt really cost more, it just give more risk to the project.

Anyone can help me to understand ?

No where it says that critical success factor is schedule and not cost. Please avoid such sources of questions. Real exam will not have such ambiguity.

I would agree that you will need to crash the project.

May be Fast tracking. Crashing can be applied only on Critical Path. since the EAC shown that there under budget, it means no impact on the Critical Path.
