Submitted by Manish Thukral on Tue, 05/21/2013 - 19:17
Hi - I have recently passed by PMP exam and now i am looking forward to do PMI - ACP. I would appreciate if you could provide any guidance today what material - books, mock test etc i should refer.
For preparation of PMP - i had primarily used RMC's PMP Exam Prep by Rita Mulachy however i have noticed that RMC did have a good book for PMI-ACP by Mike Griffiths.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Manish

I earned my ACP solely based
I earned my ACP solely based on Mike G's book. It's a good one to start off your preps with. I would additionally recommend some extra literature on SCRUM, XP and LEAN beyond what you'll get to see in RMC's book.

PMI-ACP Exam Prep
Thanks Deba. How about mock tests. I am wondering should i buy complete package of PMI - ACP Exam Prep system which includes the book, fasttrack software and hot topics or do you know just the book should be suffice. I am more concerned about what type of mock tests i can use to measure my performance like we have lots of mock tests available for PMP.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Manish

The bug in the ACP game right
The bug in the ACP game right now is that not too many folks have a clear understanding of the exam course content yet. As a result of this, most mock tests fail to come anywhere close to coverage of the actual exam. I had tried my hand with many mock tests but was really frustrated because most were way off the mark(some even included questions from the PMBOK or other irrelevant topics just to make up the numbers!).
So my honest word of advice would be that Mike G's book + FAStrack software + additional literature on details of LEAN, XP and SCRUM should take you through with flying colors.

PMI-ACP mock exam
Most of the mock exams are PMP style. Agile is way different. I agree with Diba that most of the provider do not understand the ACP contents and in my opinion, agile mindset is way different from traditional. Second the course required 12 different books, and I notice some provider's simply created questions from the book without a real understanding of the core principle. I recently passed my PMI-ACP, and the best exam I recommend is from 360PMO http://ww.360pmo.com/home/products/pmi-acp-full-length-practice-exam/ I found their questions were close to real exam and the explanations after each question helped me a lot in passing me acp exam. I can safely say that their exam is best brain dump for PMI-ACP

As you have already completed ACP Certification, How long does it take for application to get approve for ACP, In the PMI-ACP hand book its says 10 days, What’s your experience ?
Like in PMP's case the PMP Handbook says 5 day but, In my case I am looking into my sequence of emails from PMI, I submitted on Thursdays Night I got approval on Tuesday night i.e. within 3 business days. What’s your experience with PMI-ACP application?

My application had got
My application had got approved in 2 days flat. But then a colleague of mine had to wait for almost 8 - 9 days for the same. So I guess this timeline really varies from case to case.

My personal opinion is that
My personal opinion is that these ScaleStudy tests are a bagful of trash. The construct of questions makes it very clear that these have been created by people who have no clue about English as a language(which is a fact since most of these folks are from Ukraine as I later found out!). As a result, it becomes very difficult to comprehend a majority of their questions let alone answer them.
But then ScaleStudy has got its own very faithful band of followers too(though I'm not too sure whether the 'Testimonials' section on their website is a product of creative propoganda or not!). So please don't consider my personal opinion as gospel. It's exactly what it is - a personal opinion.
