PMI Membership post Certification

Does one continue to be a PMI member post certification to report PDUs or to renew the credential after 3 years.

If there is no necessity by PMI, are there any advantages of being a PMI member one year after passing the PMP certification. I understand that you can watch webinars at free of cost to claim PDUs, but are there any advantages beyond this.

Thanks,

Subba.

The PMP renewly fee for member and non member is seperate.... i would recommend you earn 60 PDUs in this year only and claim it before your membership get expire... doing that you save money and you also get PMP certificate valide for next 5 years....

Benifits like books and access to chapter event is another area you can look at.

Do you mean, I can not even report my PDUs, if I am not a PMI member?

You can report PDUs even if you are not paid member of PMI, but once you accumulate 60 PDUs and done with your 3 year cycle time, you need to pay fee to PMI for renewing your PMP certification which is 150 USD for non paid members and 60 for members.

So you save 90 USD if you are member.... so my suggestion was.... renew your certificate in this year only... since you already have active paid membership and save 90 USD.... and make your PMP certificate active for 3+3 (6)  years

Do you mean that PMP certification can be renewed anytime once you gain 60 PDUs? Is there no need to wait till the end of three years?

If it is TRUE, that really saves money.

Thanks,

Subba.

Yes you can renew it anytime once you get 60 PDUs , once you have this done, you get the renew option enabled

Good Information is shared.

Thanks

PMI Local Chapter and Global Chapter are great resources and ways to network. But no you don't have to stay a member.
