Question about comm. channels
Submitted by weshpapa on Tue, 03/24/2015 - 20:17
Hello,
I passed at the beginning of march the PMP exam and I unfortunately failed.
I'm now preparing to reschedule my exam again, I guess in a month.
I had one question about communications channels but I need your expertise.
Question:
There are 10 people in the project team. A new resource is added but working half time (1/2 FTE), how many communications are in total ?
how many channels are added ?
I thought the number of channels does not really care whether a ressource is working full time or not, am I correct ?

Re: communication channels
Yes the number of channels does not really care whether a ressource is working full time or part time.
The total no. of communication channels if total stakeholers =10 are
10*9/2= 45
The total no. of communication channels if total stakeholers =11 are
10*11/2= 55
So the total no. os channels added = 55-45 = 10
Thanks

when I said 10 people are part of the project team....do we have to consider the PM as part of this team , then in total 11 people ?

ok, let's say: we have 10
ok, let's say: we have 10 resources in the projet instead.
I had some questions, where the PM were counted...or not.

How to calculate communication channels
If the Question says that there are total 10 stakeholders in the project then the PM is already included but if the question says you are a project manager with 10 stakeholders ,then the total count become 11.
