The quality department has ensured that a product which did not conform to the specification was fixed and brought into compliance. What is the action better known as ?

A. Inspection
B. change request
C. preventive action
D. corrective action

I was thinking the answer is D. correction action based on the line "specification was fixed and brought into compliance" but the correct answer is A. Can anybody explain why?

The key word in this question is ensure.  if you reword the question.  "The quality depatment inspected to see if the defect was fixed.",  it will make more sense.

How do you ensure a defect was corrected? you use inspection to check it out.   Inspection is a tool & technique of The Control Quality.

It is a rather phylosophical question. Is such an inspection is a corrective action if Corrective Action is an intentional activity that realigns the performance of the project work with the project management plan.

It drives me crazy.
