Content not in PMBOK5

This quesiton is for those who have taken the exam.

I have been taking several practice exams lately. Some have questions testing knowledge of content that is not in PMBOK5. Instead, it is from other sources like:

  • "The Project Management Toolkit: 100 Tips and Techniques for Getting the Job Done Right" by Tom Kendrick, or,
  • "Project Management, A Systems Approach to Planning, Scheduling, and Controlling" by H. Kerzner.

If content is not in PMBOK5 but in other PM materials, will it be on the exam?

I did not get any question on my exam which was out of the PMBOK. But do note that the questions are not so direct and hence it would be a good idea to look at sources out of the PMBOK as well to get a good grip on the topics. In you mock if you find some questions like this do a bit of that additional reading - it will surely help

PMP exam will have questions on content outside PMBoK. However we dont know if those questions are used for scoring or they are part of those 25 questions which are not used for scoring.

When you come across some question in mock test outside pmbok, just make note of that point.

Most of the things which are outside PMbok are covered in reputed mock tests and PMZilla notes by Rajesh Nair and others.

PMZilla 200 questions also covers some of those topics.

You dont have to spend time reading other books referenced, just understand that one point in the question.

You will not get any questions which is based on anything out of PMBOK. Even lot of Oliver Lehmann questions appear good but they are irrelevant since they are mostly out of PMBOK.... This is the precise reason why people struggle badly in Oliver Lehmann tests ....

Having said that I would re emplasize the fact  that questions wont be straight forward either, they will be all indirect questions but the fundamentals will be from PMBOK....
