HELP NEEDED : Question on Stakeholder Analysis
Hello,
I have a questions regarding stakeholder Analysis from Headfirst PMP Free Exam (Q#.7)
When do you perform stakeholder analysis?
a. When defining the project scope
b. when developing the project charter
c. when creating the project management plan
d. when putting changes through change control
My understanding was that you identify stakeholders in the initiation phase so I selected b,
however, the answer given is (a) when defining the project scope. "Stakeholder analysis is one of the tools and techniques of the Scope Definition process. And that shouldn't really be a surprise. After all, the goal of stakeholder analysis is to write down the needs of your stakeholders. And when is it most important to figure out what your stakeholders need? When you are defining the scope of the project work!"
Could anyone confirm this or my understanding is just wrong.
Many thanks,

Your understanding is correct
Your understanding is correct. Stakeholder analysis is done in initiating phase so the answer is B.
If you look at the given explanation, Scope Definition process is mentioned. There is no Scope Definition term in PMBOK5. This explanation either from PMBOK3 or 4. So ignore this and concentrate on mock tests that are in line with PMBOK5. Hope this make sense!
