Cleared ACP!

Just passed the ACP exam with 'Proficient' score in both T&T and K&S. The questions were really easy when compared to a test like PMP perhaps. Used barely an hour to complete all the questions + review the doubtful ones. Almost half of all questions were specific to SCRUM, XP or LEAN.

My total prep duration was 3 weeks and the only book I had read was Mike Griffiths. Honest word of advice: please do not attempt mock tests such as Simplilearn etc.. Obviously, these guys have no clue re: the coverage of the actual exam. Even the Proplanx mock had irrelevant questions straight from PMBOK process etc.. In terms of coverage sufficiency, Mike Griffiths plus any book which covers the basics of SCRUM, XP and LEAN should be sufficient.

All the best to aspirants!

Congratulations Diba,

What was the motivation to do ACP ? How do you think it will help you ?

Couple of things:

i) ACP has existed for ~ 12 months now(post pilot phase) and we already have approx 2k+ certified folks. This growth rate is phenomenal compared to other PMI certis like RMP, SP(or even PgMP) etc. which haven't been able to penetrate as much even after years of existence! More and more hiring managers are starting to ask for this alongside the PMP certification(atleast in IT). There's a very high probability that this growth trend will continue/improve in future. And ACP anyway has a distinct advantage over SCRUM/XP/LEAN certifications since it's methodology agnostic. Now whether ACP would actually end up being more popular than a SCRUM CSM etc. will depend on how aggressively PMI continues to market it.

ii) Personally, I've been leading Agile IT projects for quite some time now but somehow had always felt the need to add a bit of structured theoretical understanding of why I/we do certain things in the name of Agile. Preparing for the ACP has provided me that much needed trip through the rationale behind Agile practices which we employ daily. In a nutshell, I can now appreciate my work better.

Good information and i agree Agile is the new way of doing projects and its catching up fast, I am seeing that in my organization too. More clients want to evaluate Agile methods first before the approve non agile methods.

Also good to know that certification actually helped you in your job and not just theoratical.

congrats diba....
really awsome two major certification within few weeks.

Thanks Faisal bhai..but I'd say it's months rather than weeks. Had completed PMP back in July '12..though it seems just like yesterday! ;-)

Though one thing which I had badly missed during my ACP preps is a forum like PMZilla. That way the PMP journey would always be the more memorable one simply because I had got acquainted to so many like minded folks. Can never stop thanking PMZilla! :-)

Hi Diba,

Just wanted to check if you have study material for ACP and e-copy of Mike grif to read. I am also planning to give exam. But I dnt have any study material as of now.

Unfortunately, don't have it. E-copy of Mike G's book would be hard to find.
