SCRUM TRAINING PROVIDERS

I have been doing a research on Scrum and Agile courses in US and Canada for a while now. I came across many training providers but only three certifying bodies which are Scrum Alliance, Scrum.org and SCRUMstudy.com. While Scrum Alliance and Scrum.org provide training through their REPs, SCRUMstudy.com provides training directly through their own trainers.

Even though all three training providers are equally accepted in job market, I could see some drastic differences in their training methodology and the way the event is conducted. To get a CSM training from  ScrumAlliance, one needs to get enrolled with any of their registered training providers. The event is completely trainer driven i.e., each trainer comes with his own training materials and classroom deliverables. There are no standard course methodology and study materials. You may or may not get takeaways depending on the trainer. Also, the course fee varies depending on the REP. For the same course the REPs will charge you different amount.

Scrum.org is also on the similar lines but their major disadvantage is that they do not have many classes in US and Canada.

I decided to try SCRUMstudy.com. I got myself enrolled for classes in Atlanta and Philadelphia. The price remained the same, the course materials were the same, case studies and the activities were the same. Trainers were different but I should say both the trainers are experts in scrum and project management. I believe SCRUMstudy.com’s training was much better than other Scrum training I have attended. It was much more lively and interactive.

Here is a good comparison between Scrum trainers. Hope this will give a fair idea for those who are interested in Scrum Master and Agile training and certification

Thanks nick for sharing this wonderful comparison

Did you check out the Scrum Body of Knowledge (SBOK - 340 pages) from Scrumstudy? Scrumstudy offers it for free to all users to download. And this is by far the best resource for Scrum that I have read. http://www.scrumstudy.com/SBOKGuide-vs-otherScrumBooks.asp

Also, Scrumstudy provides several free resources including great high quality videos, free case studies and phone apps; it also gives provides a free "Introduction to Scrum" course on its website. Link to some of their great videos: http://www.scrumstudy.com/scrum-free-videos.asp

Scrumstudy has the biggest partner network of ATPs to deliver trainings (120 ATPs) http://www.scrumstudy.com/list-of-atp.asp ; this is a bigger partner network to deliver Scrum trainings as compared with any other Scrum Training provider.

Moreover, students from leading Fortune 500 companies have taken the trainings from Scrumstudy including Apple, IBM, HP, Lockheed Martin, BoA, Amex and several other Fortune 500 companies. http://www.scrumstudy.com/corporate-testimonials.asp

Please check this out. Anyways, the SBOK is a free download:)
