A question about free float

Ok I have made the following question for you guys.

Considering the following network diagram in which Activity A will take 7 days, Activity G 6 days and Activity F 13 days, what is the free float on Activity C?

i.imgur.com/KQcu5.gif

A. Free float cannot be calcuated because information provided is not complete
B. There is no free float on Activity C
C. The free float on activity C is 13
D. The free float on activity C is 7

Well try. Improve ,it more.

At present answer is A

Correct answer is B.

Let's see how it is correct. Free float means an activity can be delayed without delaying another activity which comes after it. To have a free float you must have two activities converging into one activity OR shall I say that one activity must be dependent on completion of two activites and only then you may or may not have free float.

Consider the following diagram:

In the diagram above, activities A and B are converging into C hence it can be said that A or B may have free float. To calculate it, we need need to know how much time these activities take.

But when we see that no two activities are converging into one, then by just looking at diagram we can say that there is no free float OR there is 0 free float. No need to calculate it.

Hi Ali Paaji,

I dont agree that respected Pawarji Sir is incorrect. It just cant be. Please get your facts right for the question. I do NOT know what and who is right or wrong, however, I know the legend can NOT be wrong. Please think infinite times before saying that the big time respected and revered legend to be incorrect.

He is a Great man in spite of not being in Great Britain.

A great man or a LEGEND is respected Pawarji Sir. Just by reading his writings I can score 60% + in the mock tests that I appear and earlier it was 35-40%. A great man!!! God may always bless his soul.

A legend is respected Pawarji Sir.

Warmly Alibhai, KK....

Yes I respect him as he is a very nice and humble man. I like how he helps others. May be I am wrong but this is what I have seen that free float only exists when two or more activites are converging into one.

Hey Ali Paaji,

Dont get me wrong. I was only trying to say that its virtually impossible that respected Pawarji Sir would be wrong. I feel he is divinely ordained. Totally blessed.

What gut, what gumption, and what glory to pinpoint mistakes in PMBOK. He has class. Unequivocal and indefatigable class that respected Pawarji Sir possess.

When it comes to feelings, I know I have made some great friends because they are exceptional human beings like, Diba, Faisal, Britt, You.

I do not want to take SS's name because that goes without mentioning Ali Paaji.

Are you in the study group, promulgated by Britt from USA, from tomorrow by the way or BTW?

Warm wishes, KK....

No I have no idea about any study group!?

By the way did you get any news from jcrajput about his PMP exam? He was supposed to appear for exam on 9th July.

Nopes I did not hear nothing on jcrajput. I was also expecting to read his LLs.  I also thought of sending a mail then did not thinking he would like it or not.

If you pass great and kindly post your LLS and,God forbid, if you dont then also one should definitely post for others so that the chances of repetition gets less.

You might want to send a request to Britt at britt.ann12@gmail.com.   He would make you a member in the group. It would be helpful. Arent Brainstorming helpful Ali? :) Think about it.

Warmly, KK...

Email sent to Britt.

Great Ali.

My time would be 7.30AM. I think it would be 7AM for you, since Pakistan's timeline is 30 minutes ahead of Bharat.

Warmly, KK...

Yes it would be something around that. That's why I have replied "May be" because I am not sure if I may be able to come online at that time.

So you mean my question is right?

I can't open Blogger links above as it is asking me to login.

The same happened to me when I tried to access some 30-45 minutes back. Respected Pawarji Sir, please lead both of us from darkness to light! Warmly, KK...
